Making a Difference with ODKF Grants

Making A Difference with ODKF Grants

I had the privilege of attending Circle K DCON and awarding ODCKI Governor, Margaret Lee, with a
Past International Presidents Award, for her leadership and contributions as a board member with
ODKF. The evening included great fellowship, a wonderful keynote speech by Stan Soderstrom,
executive director of Kiwanis International, special awards including the Wayne and Laura Enders
Ohio Circle of Service Award which was presented to past ODKF President and Ohio Governor Elect
Jason Miller, and of course, acknowledgment and commitment of service for all Circle K members this past year.

It's invigorating, to see our active SLPs doing their part to make a difference in Ohio.
In speaking with the members of Circle K, I presented them with a simple “ASK”, and I'll present a
similar request today, to encourage all Kiwanis clubs to work with their SLPs to make a difference
within their community with meaningful service projects supported by ODKF grants. If you haven't
executed a service project this year, let me encourage you to work with your SLP advisors and explore options with a matching mini grant or regular club grant through ODKF.

The deadlines for upcoming grant cycles are March 31, and June 30. If you're struggling to come up with a service project and haven't utilized ODKF in the past, let me encourage you to explore a Safe & Healthy Kids Project like the helmet project or support the Ohio Governor First Family Service Project.

At Mid Year, please consider participating in the First Family Komfort Backpacks Service Project for
20 minutes throughout the day. We are preparing to produce 144 Komfort Backpacks that LTGs and
club presidents will take back to distribute to their communities children's service agencies. LTGs,
presidents, and secretaries will receive an email prior to Mid Year to help coordinate pick up and
delivery for your club.

Kiwanis members who participate in the service project will receive a special
ODKF gift. If you are unable to attend Mid Year, but would like to still make a club contribution, please consider making a donation through the ODKF website at ODKF.org.
