ODKF Helmet Project for the Prevention of Kids Head Trauma
Program Purpose:
Provide Bike Helmets to Kiwanis Clubs, Kiwanis members, and K Family.
Helmets sold and provided by the Ohio District Kiwanis Foundation for the prevention “TBI” Traumatic Brain Injury and other head injuries that are preventable.
This program has been successful for the Foundation, Kiwanis Clubs, and the communities they serve in the Ohio District for the last 6+ years. With changes in costs in production and distribution we have explored alternative ways to manage time and people requirements to improve this program.
The goal is to successfully continue this project to allow this program to continue for future years.
What will ODKF do to secure the Helmets:
· We will place one order for each Kiwanis year. Based on information and past requests we will Bulk order helmets in December. Our first order placed was December 29, 2023.
· All helmets are one color and model. Sliver Graphic Bike Helmet with Touring attachment
· Each Helmet will be labeled by the manufacturer “Ohio Kiwanis”.
· Helmets will arrive at ODKF by April 30th. We will set up at least 2 Ohio District wide pickup dates and locations. This will be determined based on helmet ordering selected sites.
· The helmet pickup days, times, and locations, will be advertised as
“ODKF Annual Safe and Healthy Kids Helmet Day”
How can Ohio Kiwanis Clubs participate in the program:
· Clubs can place orders for helmets beginning February 15th.
· Helmets are sold in Case quantities. There are (20) helmets per case for sizes Small, Medium, and Large.
· Case quantities for size X-Large have (18) helmets per case.
· Cost per helmet is $16
· Once the order is placed your club will receive a confirmation
· ODKF will provide the date, time, and site of helmet pick up after May 15th.
· Helmet sizes and quantities available are:
o 200 Small
o 200 Medium
o 120 Large
o 108 X-Large
· Bulk orders of 100 helmets or more of specific sizes are available upon request
